Honaker Man Convicted and Sentenced to 22 Years in Prison For Shooting Juvenile

Lebanon, VA — On June 25, 2015, David Lee Meadows, a 55 year-old man from Honaker, Virginia, was convicted of  Attempted Murder, Aggravated Malicious Wounding, and Possession of a Firearm by Felon.

The charges stemmed from a shooting at Meadows’ residence on March 19, 2014.   On that day, a juvenile, who was 17 years old at the time, was shot with a .22 handgun in the face by Meadows.   Witnesses reported to law enforcement that Meadows had been selling drugs to the juveniles for some time prior to the shooting. Two Honaker Men Charged With Distribution of Drugs

Lebanon, VA — On July 17, 2015, Barney Johnson and Randall Musick, were both charged with various drug offenses related to an investigation by the Russell County Sheriff’s Office, spanning the last two months.   Investigators served a search warrant at the residence where Johnson and Musick lived, 478 Swords Creek Road, Honaker, Virginia.

Lebanon Man Convicted of 16 Drug Charges and Property Seized and Forfeited

Lebanon, VA — On November 14, 2015, Billy Kegley, Jr., a 58 year-old man from Lebanon, Virginia, was convicted of 16 counts of Conspiracy to Distribute and Distribution of  controlled Substances in the Russell County Circuit Court.  Kegley was sentenced to a total of twenty (20) years, with eleven (11) years suspended, and three (3) years probation upon his release.

Lebanon Man Convicted and Sentenced on 43 Counts of Possessing Child Pornography

Lebanon, VA — On September 17, 2015, Terry Theodore Cantrell, a 57 year-old man from Lebanon, Virginia, pled guilty to 43 counts of Possession of Child Pornography in the Russell County Circuit Court.  Cantrell was remanded to jail pending his sentencing hearing, which was held on December 17, 2015, and he was sentenced to 50 years in prison, with 40 years suspended, and indefinite probation upon his release.

Cleveland Man Convicted and Sentenced to 13 years for Manufacturing Methamphetamine and Possessing Firearm

Lebanon, VA — On June 9, 2016, Gregory Scott Crabtree, a 53 year-old man from Cleveland, Virginia, pled guilty to two counts of Manufacturing Methamphetamine,  one count of Possession of Firearm while Possessing a Schedule II Controlled Substance, and  one count of Possession of Precursor Chemicals.  Crabtree was sentenced to a total of 60 years, with 47 years suspended, and indefinite probation upon his release, leaving him 13 years to serve in the penitentiary.

East Stone Gap Man Convicted of Possessing Explosive Materials

Wise, VA – On Friday, April 17, 2015, after a two day trial, a Wise County jury convicted Jimmy Scott Elkins of possessing materials that can be used to make fire bombs or explosive devices with the intent to manufacture fire bombs or explosive devices. Elkins is a 43 year old man who lives in East Stone Gap, Virginia. The jury recommended a sentence of 12 months in jail and a $1,000.00 fine. The formal sentencing date is set for July 15, 2015. Elkins was remanded to the Duffield Regional Jail to serve his sentence.
