Lebanon, VA — On December 12, 2016, Donald Ray Forman, a 48 year-old man from Lebanon, Virginia, was convicted of Carnal Knowledge of a Minor and Use of Communications Device to Solicit a Minor in the Russell County Circuit Court. Forman was sentenced to 50 years in prison, with 10 years suspended, and indefinite probation upon his release.
Assistant Commonwealth’s Attorney Jessica Jackson presented evidence at Monday’s hearing that the victim in this case was a 10 year old child that Forman had engaged in sexual relations with and had solicited the sexual acts through a text messaging and Facebook for nearly three years.
The victim testified that these crimes had ruined her life and that because of that she felt like Forman should be imprisoned for the rest of his life. The prosecutor adopted this argument and asked the Court to impose a sentence long enough that Forman would spend the rest of his life in prison. The Judge commented that with this lengthy sentence, it was his intention that Forman be in prison the rest of his life.
Commonwealth’s Attorney Brian Patton stated, “this is another sad case where an adult exploited a minor child and used social media and text messaging to further his depravity.” Patton further stated, “with this sentence, Forman will never be back in our community.”
“We will continue to work jointly with our partners in law enforcement to stop the victimization of children in Russell County and bring the perpetrators to justice,” said Sheriff Steve Dye.
The charges stemmed from an investigation conducted by the Russell County Sheriff’s office and the Virginia State Police.
